ATI titanium used in aerospace

Allegheny Technologies Inc (ATI) has announced that its thin titanium Precision Rolled Strip product has been selected by the sensors and integrated systems division of the Goodrich Corporation for use in heated floor panels for commercial aircraft.

ATI’s product is Grade 2 titanium rolled to 0.012 inches (0.305 mm) thin by 42 inches (1067 mm) wide. Goodrich uses this thin and wide titanium product to manufacture light weight and highly durable heated floor panels installed at the entrance of most commercial airplanes.

“We are pleased to provide this unique titanium product to Goodrich,” said Rich Harshman, chairman, president and CEO of ATI. “From raw materials (titanium sponge) through melting, hot rolling, and finishing in very thin gauges at wide widths, we offer a seamless, real supply chain capable of meeting our customers’ timing, quality, and service expectations.
