PM2012 to be held in Basel

The European Powder Metallurgy Association (EPMA) has announced that the Euro PM2012 International Conference and Exhibition will be held in Basel, Switzerland, from 16th–19th September 2012.

DMLS assessed for sustainability

EPMA Summer School success

The European Powder Metallurgy Association (EPMA) plans to run another Powder Metallurgy Summer School in June 2012, following the success of its 2011 Summer School, held at the Fraunhofer Institut IFAM in Dresden, Germany, during the last week in June.

Höganäs increases capacity

North American Höganäs Inc. (NAH), plans to spend US$22 million to increase production capacity of annealed atomized iron powders at its plant in Hollsopple, and and stainless steel powders at its plant in Johnstown, both in Philadelphia.

GKN to acquire clutch and brake manufacturer

GKN plc has signed an agreement to acquire the entire issued share capital of Stromag Holding GmbH (Stromag), a manufacturer of industrial power management components, including clutches, electro-magnetic brakes and flexible couplings.

Merit award from standards agency

A metal powders committee in ASTM, the global standards development and delivery organisation, has presented its Award of Merit to Craig W Hudson in recognition of his expertise in powder metallurgy technology and his contributions to the development of powder metallurgy standards.

Peru metals resources down

According to the latest official mine production figures published by Peru's mines ministry, the May production of copper, lead, zinc and tin all down on corresponding levels recorded in May 2010.

Tin resources in Cornwall

Celeste Copper Corporation, which owns a 25% stake in the South Crofty tin mine in Cornwall, UK, has published an initial estimate of mineral resources in five near surface deposits on the property.

Russian giant invests in PM

According to Russian newspaper Vedomosti, RUSNANO, Russian Corporation of Nanotechnologies, is considering investing US$300m in Kamaz-Metallurgiya, the metallurgic complex of truck giant KAMAZ.

Erasteel enters Chinese agreement

Erasteel and HeYe Special Steel have entered into a strategic agreement which, according to a press release, allows them to “cooperate together on commercial matters on a world base and on industrial matters in China”.

Plansee Group achieves best ever sales

The Plansee Group’s consolidated sales increased by 46% in the last fiscal year to a total of €1.24 billion, 13% higher than its previous best sales achieved in the 2008/09 fiscal year.
