Russian copper powder expansion
Russian copper powder producer
Uralelectromed plans to raise copper powder output 35 per
cent year-on-year to 10 000 tonnes in 2008.
The move has been prompted by rising demand in domestic and
foreign markets. The company will spend about Rb5.5 million
(about $220,000) on the project. Another 34 electrolysis baths
are expected to be added to the 102 currently operational.
Uralelectromed is currently one of the largest producers in the world of electrolytic copper powder and the only domestic producer. It manufactures over 30 different grades of powder and numbers more than 50 Russian and foreign companies from the metal powder industry, instrument and machine engineering and aircraft and chemical industries among its customers. The company exports approximately 50 per cent of its product.
