Nano Award
The NanoSteel Company, of Providence, Rhode Island, has received its third R&D 100 Award from R&D Magazine for developing Hardmetal Alternative Technology: Super Hard Steel (SHS) 9192 Weld Wire. The patented material has a very fine sub-micron microstructure that provides exceptional wear resistance, the company reports.
“The SHS 9192 weld alloy was developed from the same technology base of our SHS thermal spray alloys, which have been recognized by two previous R&D 100 Awards,” says Dave Paratore, president and CEO. SHS 9192 is designed as an alternative hardfacing material for MIG and open-arc weld applications using high-performance materials such as tungsten carbide.
