Organisational change at QMP
QMP, headquartered in Sorel-Tracy, Quebec, has a total capacity of some 200 000 tonnes of iron and steel powders annually and is the second largest producer in North America.
Following the retirement of QMP’s president, Martin Thibodeau, after nearly 20 years in the post, parent company Rio Tinto Iron and Titanium (RTIT) moved to amalgamate the QMP powder plant with the QIT steel billet plant to form the QIT Steel and Powder Division, under the direction of Sylvain Paul-Hus, formerly QIT executive director, Smelter. He will be responsible for optimising the two operations to fully exploit the natural synergies between the two plants.
Sales and Marketing activities world wide will be led by Greg Lavallée. Despite the changes, all QMP trade marks and logos will be retained and sales offices in North America, Europe and Asia will continue as before.
