Titanium set-up for Kerala
A titanium processing plant is to be
set up in south west India. The Kerala government has agreed
to set up the plant in collaboration with the Russian agency
responsible for 90 per cent of Russian annual arms sales.
Rosoboronexport is the sole state
intermediary agency for Russia’s exports/imports of defense–related
and dual use products, technologies and services.
The memorandum of understanding talks in terms of a Rs 1500-crore plant for production of titanium metal, titanium sponge and titanium alloy. The Russian VSMPO-Avisma corporation, the world’s largest titanium producer, will also be involved in the technical collaboration.
Kerala Minerals and Metals Ltd will supply the titanium raw material for the processing plant..
