Ecka grows in China and Brazil

Bavarian-based Ecka Granules signalled new developments in China and Brazil with a joint venture in China to produce copper powders and a strategically placed new office in Sao Paulo.

The non-ferrous powder maker which late last year acquired BSA Metal Powders in the UK has joined forces with Zhongke Tongdu, China's biggest producer of copper sulphates in a joint venture that will produce and market copper and copper alloy powders.

The JV has its plant in Tongling City in Anhui Province, east of Beijing and is called Ecka-Tongdu Metal Powder (Tongling) Co Ltd. Start-up capacity of the plant will be 2000 tonnes and will later be expanded to 5000 tonnes per year
Ecka has also opened a new office in Sao Paulo, Brazil at the heart of the biggest cluster of German companies outside Germany.

Ecka is planning to expand its activities in Latin America this year to embrace aluminium, magnesium and their alloys.
