MPIF releases new standards
The Metal Powder Industries Federation (MPIF) has released
two new standardised materials, recently balloted and approved
by corporate voting members. The new materials designation
and property data constitute an addendum to the 2003 edition
of MPIF Standard 35, Material Standards for P/M Structural
Parts, and are available as a free-access document on the
MPIF Web site.
The new standards include physical and mechanical property
information, chemical compositions and data tables for FLN2C-4005,
a hybrid low-alloy steel (as-sintered and heat treated), and
FLC-4805, a sinter-hardened steel. Hardenability and axial-fatigue
data are provided for both materials.
The new standards are posted as Addendum 3-March 2006 Release
on the Web site, joining two previously released Addenda (January
2005 and April 2005) that offer comparable information. These
standards will all be included in the next printed edition
of Standard 35, Structural.
